BOXXY (2008)

From Wikipedia: Boxxy is an Internet meme that arose in late 2008 and early 2009, surrounding self-made videos featuring an anonymous young woman under the handle "Boxxy"

The videos depict a young woman in heavy eyeliner rambling excitedly about various things while displaying "ridiculous" and possibly "fake" odd personality quirks. They were originally posted to Gaia Online early in 2008, reposted to the site i-am-bored.com later in the year, then eventually appeared on 4Chan's "/b/" message board. The presence of the videos created a dispute on 4Chan, leading to various flame wars and hacking incidents among factions that claimed to either support or oppose Boxxy. This lead a denial of service attack on 4Chan itself, shutting the site down for several hours. Participants went elsewhere, launching a "Twitter bomb" that May. On YouTube, the popular Boxxy channel was hacked and the source's identity outed. A number of spoofs, parody videos, and remixes were posted throughout the web.

In 2010 the AOL channel, "urlesque", named Boxxy #104 on its list of "The 100 Most Iconic Internet Videos". In late 2010, the woman began selling Boxxy items on eBay. In January, 2011, she posted a new, more introspective video.
